First held in 1920, the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade is the oldest Thanksgiving parade in the United States, and is highlighted by an energetic mix of entertainment, gigantic balloons, magnificent floats, celebrities and special production numbers! the three-hour live television broadcast is aired by 6abc, simulcast on other television stations across the United States, and can be streamed LIVE on Hulu, Apple TV, ROKU, FireTV and GoogleTV. 📺
 
The Philadelphia Thanksgiving Parade accepts applications for participation from Marching Bands, High School Bands, College Bands, Junior Drum Corps, Senior Drum Corps, Alumni Corps, String Bands, Pipe Bands, Fife & Drum Corps and Specialty Bands. 🥁
 
Marching Band applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with band selection & acceptance into the parade confirmed in the immediate. Applications for participation in the 2024, 2025, and 2026 parades are currently open & active for review. 📃

 

🗓️ Applications for Participation:

The marching band applications are due no later than May 15 of the same year for participation. Applicants will also be required to submit the following for consideration:

🌟A Thumb Drive OR Link showing the applying band in at least one parade appearance or field show.

🌟A Color Photograph of the applying band in full performance attire.

🌟ANY other relevant information that will assist the Parade Producers evaluate your Application.

🧭 Parade Route:

The 1.4-mile parade route steps off from the intersection of 20th Street & John F Kennedy Boulevard, turns left onto 16th Street and then left onto Ben Franklin Parkway. The entire parade route is free and open to the public, except for a limited number of grandstand seats in the telecast area that are for sponsors and VIPs only.

The telecast area is located near the end of the route, directly in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
